We are now weeks deep into the Safer at Home order. The coronavirus has spread its wings, wrapped its hands around the throat of society and has forever changed life as we knew it. Simply put, it’s a tragedy. Though the death toll is less than that from MERS, SARS, or H1N1, its ability to spread so easily and quickly has the world locked down in it’s iron glove. This isn’t the first virus to send the world into tragic palpitations and it’s not going to be the last. Mother Nature is a formidable beast when she wants to be and human life is all but dust particles that can so easily fly away. Humans are the fourth generation of dominant species earth has seen and those that came before us all fell to Mother Nature.
The one thing I do see that’s positive is the rise of the human spirit. In times of tragedy come stories of great feats. It seems like the fighting and hatred cast amongst the people of the world every day has somehow ceased. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” And the world now shares a common enemy. So we unite against it. The world will forever be changed because of COVID-19. The new “normal” will be so very different than it was yesterday. Gratefully, hygiene will be at the forefront of our every day life. Hopefully. But the true greatest thing that I hope will come of this pandemic, is a better world between the people that live in it. Maybe, just maybe, the people of the world will gain a sense of brotherhood and lose the hatred that has dominated for so long.
