COVID-19 and The New World

Based on what I’ve heard, the reopening of the nation will be on a state by state and city by city basis but the requirements for each major metropolitan area will most likely be very similar.  The thought process appears that there will be specific requirements/regulations for everyone to follow.  Larger companies with a large number of employees, as well as businesses that have extremely high foot traffic, will probably be asked to provide their own set of protocols that meet or exceed the city/state requirements.  This will also include a requirement for postings in common areas, companywide memos, etc.  Other requirements will be checkpoints at all entrances where all that enter must be logged in and have their temperature taken.  Anyone showing signs of illness will be quarantined for further observation and possibly be sent directly to hospitalization.  Track and Trace protocols may be implemented so people who are found to be carrying can be traced to where they’ve been and who else could have been exposed.

The single biggest challenge for everyone is that this is a worldwide problem.  The entire world will be seeking the same sanitizing products at the same time.  The importing of products is already being held up.  The Santa Monica Bay is overrun with cargo ships that are can’t offload their containers.  So there’s am extreme shortage with hospitals, medical facilities, and first responders getting priority on all newly available products.

My company is currently working on organizing the different services that may be required.  I am diligently trying to stay in the loop but the problem today is that there are no set parameters in place yet and this is in constant flux.  The best you can do right now is to be prepared for whatever will come.  My advice to you would be to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.  The ones that start organizing now will be in the best position to get back up and running.  The worst thing one can do at this time is to look for the cheapest way to go or even worse, do nothing.  They will find themselves at the back of the line and spending 3-5 times as much to try to catch up.  If reopening at maximum capacity and production is vital, then ramp up now and tailor back later.  The last thing you want to happen is to be found behind the curve or worse, get shut down.

My company’s biggest asset is that we are a “one-stop-shop” and are not tied down to any single manufacturer or service provider.  We can help organize and manage all aspects of the sanitizing services for you.  Help set protocols that will at a minimum meet or exceed whatever government requirements will set then manage and maintain those protocols.  We provide top-shelf project management and provide you a single source for everything you need.  We save our clients the hassle of having to deal with organizing and managing multiple complicated facets.

Finally, one of the most important things to establish would be to provide a safe work environment.  There will be a need to physically establish a general perception of a safe work environment for everyone.  The opportunistic “ambulance chasers” are just looking for the chance to pounce.  They will be looking to take advantage of any possibility to catch any “deep pocket” companies with weak protocols or execution of safety requirements.  The potential for exposure to lawsuits will be high.  In addition, whenever there is any catastrophic event, expect the insurance industry to implement new policies that will reduce their exposure and limit their losses.

The time now is to be prepared.  Those that are will survive.
