Huntington Beach was back in court as the city pursues it’s request for a preliminary injunction to stop Govenor Newsom’s April 30th directive to close our beaches. The State believes that the April 30th directive is still in effect even though there was a partial opening of the beaches.
The good news is that Huntington Beach is not backing down! It is a matter of the right for local control by a city’s Mayor and City Council. Huntington Beach has done a fabulous job protecting it’s residents and it’s community during the entire pandemic. Collaboration between the City Council, Fire and Police has resulted in an outstanding regulation of it’s residents and it’s beaches. The Govenor has overstepped his authority and has taken what appears to be a personal vendetta against Huntington Beach.
Huntington Beach lives up to it’s nickname, Surf City USA. We are a proud community of healthy active people. Huntington Beach is the iconic “beach city” and well known throughout the world. Our 4th of July parade has been going since 1904 and is the largest parade west of the Mississippi and covered each year by ABC Channel 7 News.
Thank you City of HB for standing up and fighting for our rights! Your residents applaud you!
